DigiScanner · Paper answer script digitization

From Bulk Scanning to Instant Capture.

DigiAssess Scanner is a decentralized, mobile-based scanning solution for paper-based exams.

Evaluation starts immediately after the exam. No humans required.

  • In-hall scanning
  • Face-verified sign-in
  • Page checks at capture
  • Ready for evaluation
The pain

How Central Scanning Works. Days of Waiting.

For a typical course exam with 200 students, about 200 OMR sheets and 5,200 answer-script pages must be processed before evaluators can begin. The entire process takes approximately 3 days.

  • Scripts are collected, packed, sealed and sent to a central scanning room
  • 8–10 human resources receive, unseal, sort and scan the scripts
  • Evaluation cannot begin for about 3 days
  • Multiple physical handoffs: unauthorized handling, missing or misplaced pages
  • Incorrect scanning or incorrect mapping of answer scripts
  • Possible tampering, so security and surveillance must be continuously strengthened
The difference

Evaluation Starts Immediately After the Exam. Low Cost. High Integrity.

The scanning process

How DigiAssess Scanner Works. Same-Day Evaluation.

  1. Exam completion
  2. Student face verification
  3. In-hall scanning
  4. Page checks at capture
  5. Ready for evaluation
Scanning bay

A Scanning Bay Clears the Hall in 20–30 Minutes

A scanning bay allows 10 students to scan at a time, with approximately five minutes required for each batch. With sufficient scanning bays, the entire process completes within 20–30 minutes, so students leave the hall smoothly and securely.

No central bulk scanning room. No humans required for scanning.

  2. About 5 minutes per batch
  3. 20–30 minutes in total
  4. No central bulk scanning
  5. No staff needed for scanning
Scan to evaluation

From a Paper Script to a Verified Digital Copy

Students capture their own answer scripts on a phone in the examination hall, and every page lands in DigiAssess ready for on-screen evaluation.

Governed evaluation

From Scanned Script to Published Result

Scanned scripts enter the same governed workflow as digital responses: AI-assisted evaluation, faculty review, quality check, approval and feedback, with results feeding outcome and competency reports.

What Institutions Say

Centralized scanning is a cumbersome, labor-consuming and time-consuming process. Every year, we face security and integrity-related challenges while collecting, handling, and scanning answer scripts. With DigiAssess Scanner, students scan their own answer scripts securely inside the examination hall, reducing our cost, human resource dependency, and scanning delays while maintaining high examination integrity.

Dr. Sivaramakrishnan, Controller of Examinations, St. Xavier Institute

Managing hundreds of course exams within a week and completing evaluation and result announcements is a major challenge with central bulk scanning. DigiAssess Scanner is a highly transformative solution that enables secure in-hall scanning and faster evaluation. Along with the entire DigiAssess software, it brings examination planning, digital and paper-based exams, evaluation, and outcome reports into one integrated platform.
